PHOTOS: Bawumia, 40 MPs Enroute To Kpembi By Bus For Late Lepowura’s Funeral

The Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is travelling in the company of 40 Members of Parliament(MP) by bus to the funeral of the late Lepowura Alhaji MND Jawula.

The Vice President and the Member of Parliament were seen onnoard a bus from the Tamale Airport to Kpembi in the Savanah Region where the funeral will be held.

The distance between between Tamale to Kpembi is about 115km and takes an average of 2 hours to travel by a commercial bus

Among the Members of Parliament are the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, Shiela Bartels, Mustapha Yussif, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, and Habib Iddrisu among others.

Meanwhile, the late Lepowura Alhaji Jawula has already been buried in the United States of America in line with Islamic customs.

Before his death, Lepowura Alhaji Jawula was chief of Lepo Kpembe of the Kujolobti Gate in the Northern Region and retired as a Chief Director of the Ghana Civil Service.

The Former Ghana Football Association President, Lepowura MND Jawula, passed away in the United States on January 21 2023.

In addition to his contributions to the football world, Lepowura Jawula was also a well-respected leader in his community as the Lepowura of the Kujolobito Gate of Lepo-Kpembe in the Northern Region.

His death is a loss to both the football community and his local community, and his contributions will be remembered.

Under Jawula’s tenure as GFA boss, the national U-17 team placed 2nd and 3rd in the 1997 and 1999 World Cups respectively, and the U-20 team placed 2nd in the 2001 World Cup edition.

In addition to his role at the GFA, Jawula was also a member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Interclub Committee and Chairman of the Ghana Premier League Management Committee. He also served as a board member of the Ghanaian football club Real Tamale United.
