Lawyer for Chairman Wontumi, Maurice Ampaw has expressed his joy and happiness after winning the contempt case against UTV, Afia Schwarzeneggar, Fadda Dickson, Nana Ama Mcbrown, A-plus and Mr. Logic.
A Tema High court has ruled that Afia Schwarzeneggar is arrested immediately- while the other 5 respondents in the case have been fined a whopping sum of Gh60,000 cedis each. Failure to do so means they will be serving a jail term.
In a photo sighted by Movementtvonline.com, the counsel was seen smiling in a photo he took shortly after the court’s ruling, with three other security personnel.
This is to express the kind of mood he finds himself after the motion on notice for committal for contempt which he presented before a Tema high court was ruled in his favour.
This comes after he stated in an affidavit of support to the High Court that the Saturday, 9th July 2022, edition of the United Showbiz, was a clear agenda and attempt to give the 4th respondent (Afia Schwar), the needed platform to strengthen her case before the court and to seriously prejudice the matter before the Honourable Court.
He humbly pray that such conduct of the Respondents is tantamount to Contempt of Court and warrant their Committal to prison as it will serve as an appropriate punitive action to defer the Respondents and other media houses and the public at large from undermining the authority of the Court when a matter is pending before the Court and to ensure that commentary and discussion on matters pending before the Court will be done with some level of decorum and respect so as not to prejudice and affect the fair trial of cases before the Court.
