Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has told Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor to expect people in his own political party to oppose his decision to clamp down on illegal mining.
“I say this because I know he will have opposition to the fight even in his own party”, the Asantehene predicted.
The King sounded this alert during a Regional Consultative Dialogue on Small Scale Mining which was held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology on Wednesday.

He called Ghanains to show the minister for Lands and Natural Resources support rather than oppose what he started.
“We have to give him maximum support to ensure he succeeds in this undertaken” he appealed.
Otumfuo lauded the minister for his “eagerness” and adding interest in pursuit of the goals of the ministry to eradicate illegal mining in Ghana.
“Without that this young man has shown passion and commitment to sanitize this sector”, Otumfuo said.
