The Great leader of Asanteman, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, personally checks on every project the government of Akufo-Addo has started in the Ashanti region, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako has disclosed.
The Ashanti regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) also known as Chairman Wontumi explained that Otumfuo Osei Tutu II takes it upon himself to know the various stages every project has gotten to by personally inviting every contractor responsible for each project in the region.
“Otumfuo calls those responsible for every project to know each stage a project has gotten to”, Chairman Wontumi said on the Wontumi Morning Show.
He also stated that the Boankra Inland Port project is speeding up and taking shape as well as the Central Market project together with the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (GEE).
Chairman Wontumi explained that the projects being carried out in Ashanti region are huge and capital intensive and for that reason called for patience when government has to halt the project and search for more money.
“The projects in Ashanti region are really huge so the money involved is big. Take a look at the Kumasi International Airport, it is coming to reduce the pressure the airport in Greater Accra is facing”, he said.
The NPP Chairman was quick to add that none of the projects started by the government of President Akufo-Addo has been cancelled noting that “whatever has been started would be finished”.
“Four days ago I met Kofi Job and informed him I had a meeting with the Finance minister to talk about development in Ashanti region…there were a lot of things we didn’t see in the mid-year budget reading but they have figured out a way to pay contractors”, Chairman Wontumi said.
