Obiri Boahen Saddened by Bawumia’s Campaign Behind Security Shield Due to Bawku Conflict

Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen, an advocate for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed his sorrow over the NPP 2024 election flagbearer’s need to campaign from behind a truck with a security shield in the North East Region.

He stated that while Dr. Bawumia campaigned from behind a truck due to the ongoing conflict between the Kusasi and Mamprusi groups in Bawku, it remains a troubling situation.

In an interview, Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen stated that Dr. Bawumia is a victim of circumstances and has never involved himself in the Kusasi-Mamprusi conflict.

He questioned the necessity of the fighting, acknowledging historical issues but emphasizing that violence is not the solution.

The former Deputy NPP General Secretary praised the NPP’s performance under President Akufo-Addo in handling chieftaincy disputes and urged the Mamprusi and Kusasi people to unite and support Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming general election.

He highlighted that Dr. Bawumia’s candidacy is significant as he would be the first non-Akan presidential candidate in the history of the UP and NPP tradition.
