NSS Registration Now Free From Bad Publicity Due To Digitization – Mustapha Ussif
National Service Scheme CEO Mustapha Ussif, has expressed joy that the bad publicity his outfit usually receives when it comes to the registration of fresh National Service personnel has now become a thing of the past.
Speaking at the first in the series of the weekly Nation Building Updates publicity programme by the government, Mr. Ussif said that through digitization all its activities have been without the usual bottle necks that impede the NSS smooth operations.
He said the NSS has now gone into serious aquaculture to generate income and also to encourage the personnel to have an interest in a venture which is very profitable.
On agriculture he said the NSS c currently has in stock several bags of maize produced from their own farms. Bags of heaped maize being loaded onto trucks for the open market were screened as a highlight of the presentation.
“Around Nungua in Accra, we have established a large scale poultry where we raise poultry birds including guinea fowls that are available for inspection and are also on sale to the public..” He said.
According to Mr. Ussif NSS has a programme where some personnel are introduced to food processing, catering and general fast food trade.
As part of its targeted commercial venture the NSS has included bore hole drilling, a new area where the NSS is making a lot of financial gains. This is done at the community level for those deprived of potable water.
According to the NSS boss, the NSS gives particular attention to this venture because of its financial returns.
“The bore hole drilling is a serious business and so far we have served the interest of 130 communities nation-wide where we have provided them with potable water.”
The NSS was established during the General Kutu Acheampong’s regime in 1973.
