The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has revealed that the votes his party had from the Ashanti region alone was able to cancel out votes the National Democratic Congress had in 9 (nine) regions.
Proud of the achievement, Mr. Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi stated in an interview on Wontumi TV that the people of Ashanti, saved the NPP from defeat and made it possible for the NPP to maintain political power.
“The votes from Ashanti region cancelled out votes from 9 regions and we still had 100,000 votes left. We want to say a big thank you to the Asantehene and all the people in the region”, Chairman Wontumi remarked.
He continued that President Akufo-Addo had expressed gratitude for the love Ashanti region has shown to him.
“President Akufo-Addo is happy about what Ashanti region has done for him. I have informed him about the interchanges we need and he has agreed to it… The new Ashanti region will have new interchanges and a working railway”, Chairman Wontumi said.
In the just ended elections, the NPP obtained a total votes of 1,795,824 against the 653,149 votes the NDC bagged.
