NPP Gov’t Hasn’t Abandoned Ashanti Region- Francis Adomako Sets The Records Straight

The Regional Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Francis Adomako has described claims by one Nana Agyenim Boateng that the NPP has abandoned the people of Ashanti region is baseless.

He says the party has since assumption of power initiated monumental projects aimed at making the region properly developed.

In a release copied to the Ghanaian Observer newspaper detailing the projects embarked on by the NPP since assumption of power, Mr Adomako states the NPP is gradually developing the famous Kingdom.

We publish in full the statement from the regional organiser.

Press Release By Francis Adomako

NPP GOV’T HASN’T ABANDONED ASHANTI REGION.

In this day and age, the orchestration of tribal bigot should be the last resort in trying to express ones disaffection.

The video by Gyataba, which has since gone viral, is very unfortunate and must be condemned in no uncertain terms.

The contents of the video, only sought to create enmity among the various tribes in this country and to a larger extent, incite Asantes against the NPP.

Ghana, as a nation, have always enjoyed our peaceful atmosphere even in the Pre- independence era.

Regions within the country have benefitted from one another in the areas of sharing food stuff, settlements, natural, human and capital resources.

The Akufo-Addo led government, upon assumption of office in January 2017, have not neglected the Ashanti Region in terms of infrustructural developments as Gyataba sought to suggest in his video. In fact, a little check could have save him from this embarrassing video.

To set the records straight, I will outline some infrustructural projects undertaken by the Akufo-Addo led government in the Ashanti Region.

1. Construction of various roads in the Ashanti Region.

2. Built a maternity block at KATH.

3. Completion of abandoned 44 year old hospital block at KATH(Ongoing).

4. Building of Sports Complex at Nyinahini.

5. Reviving AngloGold Ashanti.

6. Phase 2 of Kumasi Airport ongoing.

7. The Kumawu Water Project

8. Uplifting of various Secondary schools within the Region.

9. Building of factories under the one district, one factory initiative in the region.

10. Completion of abandoned affordable housing project at Asokore Mampong.

The above projects are just to mention a few.

It therefore come as a surprise, to hear from Gyataba, in the said video that, the Ashanti Region has been neglected in terms of infrustructural development.

Ironically, the NDC which he claims to care for the region, in their eight year rule couldn’t complete a single project in the Ashanti Region.

All the projects he mentioned in the said video were only started by the NDC government but are being completed by the NPP.

Suffice to add, John Mahama, the then President and now flagbearer of the NDC, is/was on record to have make some derogatory comments about his Asantes, which sought to suggest, Asantes are ungrateful.

His infamous dance to the song Yɛn tie Obiara is/was evident of his blatant disrespect for the good people of Ashanti Region.

The contents of the video vis a vis what the Ashanti region has achieved under the Akufo-Addo led government, is evidence suggestive that, Gyataba is after a clandestine agenda best known to him.
If not, what at all could warrant his baseless insinuations?

I am by this release, calling on him to retract and apologize to the NPP as a matter of urgency, because, his comments only incites Asantes against the NPP and nothing else.
Our continuous silence on comments of this nature from people who should know better, only endagers our democracy and long standing peace and unity we have enjoyed as a country.
