NPP Election: A/R Media Cautioned To Be Circumspect In Their Reportage
The Committee for the Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Executive Election has issued a stern warning to the media outfit to be circumspect during the live coverage of the election.
At a Presser on Thursday evening to give the latest development on the election, the Chairman of the Committee, Simon Osei- Mensah urged the media not to give a false report to activate conflicts.
According to Simon Osei Mensah, the Committee did not want to permit the live coverage but for democracy.
Change of Date And Venue
He reiterated that the election which was scheduled to take place on 27th May has been postponed to Saturday, 28th May.
He said that the venue has been changed from the Regional Coordinating Council to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
He revealed that some candidates objected to the venue hence the change.
Election Album
Simon Osei Mensah disclosed that the Committee received 44 Constituencies albums but there were some hitches and have alerted the National Executives.
He said he is hopeful the NPP National Executive will solve the album issue of TESCON, Council of Elders, Patron and that of the founding fathers of the party.
Polling Stations
He hinted that the Electoral Commission will make provision for 4 polling stations to make the voting process smooth and swift.
The Committee Chairman said each candidate will have to present 8 polling agents, in addition to two stand-by agents.
Security
Simon Osei Mensah stressed that security will be very stiff and that troublemakers planning to cause havoc have to change their ways.
