NPP Can Retire Mahama But It Calls For Hard Work To Extend NPP’s Rule Beyond 2024 – Kyei Mensah

The Member of Parliament for Suame Constituency, Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu, has affirmed that, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Leadership will find itself in a tight situation to look for a better Presidential candidate if the NPP win the December polls convincingly.

He explained that, if NPP retires John Mahama in the general elections, they would be compelled to search for a better candidate who would face an uphill task of contesting and winning the presidential seat for the first time .

Speaking at Ashanti NPP Youth Campaign Launch in Kumasi on Sunday and monitored by Wontumionline.com, he said that, “should that happen it would give an advantage to the NPP to win convincingly in the subsequent 2024 elections and even beyond.”

Hon Kyei-Mensah Bonsu referred to Chairman Wontumi popular quote,” 2020 and beyond is a movement!” to excite the gathering. ,”
He however, urged the party members recognize that, “ the movement will come on only if we strive to work hard for the party’s victory because if the NPP retains power, everybody will get their share.”

“This election is a double track election. If we are able to secure all the 47 seats and get more than a one million votes margin, the NDC will be in a state of calamity.” The Minister for Parliamentary affairs affirmed.

He nonetheless, noted that, “what would be worrying for the NPP is a situation where the total votes difference in the December elections becomes lower than what the party attained in 2016.”

But Hon Kyei Mensah-Bosnsu issued a cautioned: “What can cause a reduction in votes are factors such as complacency and backbiting.”
He therefore urged the party members to eschew those vices and also work hard for the party to continue to stay in power.
