NPP Avoids “Verbal Boot For Boot” With John Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama’s recent verbal attacks on the sitting President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo that “he is running “a useless government” has been condemned by some leading members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)

The former President who also slammed the NPP for its “attempt to compare their infrastructural records to Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah” has received a bashing for not focusing on his own achievements and what Ghanaians should expect if he should have another chance to rule the country.

According to the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, a.k.a Chairman Wontumi who was speaking on Wontumi TV and Radio on Monday, the outbursts of John Mahama “are an indication that he has lost the December elections already.”

“We are not going to descend into the gutters with him for a “boot for boot encounter” but John Mahama should bear in mind that in all our campaigns, we have chosen to continuously focus mainly on issues and not on insults unlike him.”

Chairman Wontumi wondered why the NDC Flagbearer has failed to at least, make reference to one single achievement of former President .J.J. Rawlings who is the founder of the NDC

“On the numerous occasions that he John Mahama has mounted the stage to campaign for votes, he has not for once made a single reference to glorify the achievements of the founder of his own party. All that he knows is to attack the NPP and its flagbearer. This sounds strange and will definitely go against him eventually.” Chairman Wontumi chastised the former President.

Mr Mahama who was speaking at Ashaiman as part of his campaign tour was quoted as saying that, “All they (NPP) do is propaganda. They keep saying ‘we have achieved every promise we made. We are the best government since independence, not even Nkrumah can match up to us’, this useless government and you compare yourself to Nkrumah?”

Chairman Wontumi who referred to last Saturday’s mammoth health walk codenamed “Bantama Big Walk” said it boosted the hopes of the NPP of winning the December elections convincingly

“The crowd was beyond one’s imagination particularly, with the youth dominating.
The Regional Chairman commended the NPP’s Parliamentary Candidate for the Bantama Constituency Francis Asenso Boakye for initiating the Bantama Big Walk idea and assured the party supporters that there will be a another walk for NPP for the whole of Ashanti on November 21.

The Bantama Big Walk comes on the heels of the October 24 “Walk4More To Victory 2020” on the principal streets of Nkonza in the Bono East Region.

It was aimed at “ reviving the spirit of the NPP in Nkoranza South and energize the constituents towards the 2020 elections.”

It recorded a massive turnout and among the party members were regional, constituency, polling station executives as well as party members including ChairmanWontumi.

At the Nkoranza Main Lorry Station where the health walkers converged Chairman Wontumi took them through a lesson of how to vote correctly.

He commended the party members for their participation and encouraged them to display a similar support on the polling day.

The NPP parliamentary candidate for Nkoranza South Hon Charles Konadu Yiadom led the health walk.
