Ghana’s current renowned researcher is Dr. Smart Sarpong- he currently holds the record for accurately predicting the outcome of the 2020 national elections in Ghana and the recent regional election held in Ashanti region.
But to his surprise, when his first research findings were out in 2020, none of the political parties showed interest in his work and it only took Nana Akomea, to carefully listen to the details he had gathered.
“It took Nana Akomea to listen to my research findings. We had a telephone conversation from 8pm to 3am. He was the only person who took particular interest in my research”, Dr. Sarpong said about the work he did in 2020 which pointed to a victory for the NPP.
He added that after his findings were published, members of the National Democratic Congress came out attacking his integrity.
The attacks, he said didn’t end there as members of the New Patriotic Party were also not happy that he had predicted they would win with 51% margin.
In recent times, Dr. Smart Sarpong, came out with a research that proofed right that the incumbent Ashanti Regional Chairman, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako would be retained for the third time as regional chairman.
Making enemies
Dr. Smart A. Sarpong, has said his research on the Ashanti regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) election has created more enemies than he thought.
“In the past few days, I have received a lot of insults and attacks on my personality and even some have been directed to the Vice Chancellor of my University” he said.
He emphasized that he choose to conduct the research because of the confident the five aspirants contesting for the chairmanship showed towards the elections.
Dr. Smart Sarpong continued that he thought the contest was only between Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako alias Chairman Wontumi and Mr. Odeneho Kweku Appiah affectionately known as Chairman COKA.
“Africa and Ghanaians should take research serious and believe in it because it is the only tool that can help our development especially in our current polities”, he advised.
