The Nkwanta South Municipal Assembly has taken a bold step to revitalize the local economy by adding an extra market day to the weekly schedule. Starting immediately, the bustling markets of Nkwanta South will now be open on Thursdays, in addition to the traditional Monday.
The decision, made after extensive consultation with local traders and stakeholders, aims to increase economic activity, create more opportunities for vendors, and make fresh produce and essential goods more accessible to the community and Revenue generation to the Municipal.
“We are thrilled to introduce this new market day,” said the Municipal Chief Executive, Felix POwusu Gyemah. “By doing so, we hope to inject more vitality into our local economy, support small businesses, and improve the livelihoods of our people.”
The assembly has also promised to put in place security measures to ensure a smooth and safe trading environment.
“This is a signal of unity and togetherness, we have in our midst traders from different communities, unions, political parties and especially the youth, We urge our traditional leaders to also come together for us to enjoy the peace we use to have. There’s only one ‘Nkwanta’ that we have and we need to protect it and make it a peacefull home for all. I’m saying this on record that the security is well prepared and will not spare anybody who tries to undermined the peace and unity in the Municipality”, says the MCE.
A clean-up exercise was organized by the Assembly to officially launch the day, the atmosphere was electric. More vendors, political parties and opinion leaders than ever before show up.
With this innovative move, Nkwanta South Municipal Assembly is poised to become a hub of economic activity, empowering local entrepreneurs and enhancing the overall well-being of the community.
