New EPA Boss Calls For Meeting On Location Of Filling Station In A Residential Area At Bremang UGC

The new Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency, (EPA) Mr. Henry Kwabena Kokofu, has scheduled a meeting with a Landlord and a fuel filling station operator in Kumasi to resolve their differences over the siting of a filling station at Breman UGC for which some residents in the area have expressed serious reservations.

The meeting scheduled for next Friday is to be held at the Kumasi office of the EPA . It is at the instance of Mr. Kofofu, who paid a surprise visit to the Breman UGC neighbourhood on Monday.

The location of the Facility which is completed has led to a long standing misunderstanding between one particular landlord, Kofi Asare, who claims the facility is sited too close to his private building.

He made further claims to the media upon their visit to the site that he fears for his own life and that of his family living with him, “because the location of the filling station exposes his private property to a number of risks and reported the matter to the EPA leading to the scheduled meeting on Friday.”

Wontumionline.com reporter who visited the area to find out the authenticity of the landlords claim that proximity wise, the filling station which is completed poses a threat to both human life and property.

It could not be ascertained whether the owner of the filling station did go through the process of seeking approval by engaging with the appropriate regulatory bodies before putting up the structure.

Attempts by Wontumi online to talk to the filling station owner proved futile as he was said to be residing at an undisclosed location but strangely, some of the residence appear to have taken sides with the him.

One of the them Otuo Serebour, created a scene which was captured by wontumionline.com when he attempted to engage in a scuffle with the complainant after hot exchanges laced with curses.
