Popular Ghanaian rapper turned evangelist, Abraham Philip Akpor Kojo Kenya widely known as Lord Kenya has lashed out at the poor stage performance of young artistes describing it as “concert party”.
In a viral video sighted by Graphic Showbiz where the Sikabaa hitmaker was in the studios of Akoma FM in Kumasi, he said they didn’t make good money in their days but the young artistes are charging huge monies and giving poor performance on stage.
“…it is difficult…look at the boys who don’t even know how to perform yet see the amount of money they’re charging nowadays …what they’re doing now is concert party. Don’t you see them? They only run from one point of the stage to the other, constantly out of breath. They don’t have the craft,” Lord Kenya said.
His comment has started a conversation on social media particularly when he was largely admired as a showstopper in his heyday.
Lord Kenya’s desire to become a professional musician began at age 17, although he had always nurtured the desire since childhood.
He joined Slip Music in 1998 and released his debut album Sika Card which instantly became one of his biggest hits in his career.
Among his albums are Sika Card, Sika Baa, Yeesom Sika (which topped charts in Ghana), Sika Mpo Fane Ho, Akasieni, Born Again and God Dey.
His awards include Hiplife Album of the Year at the 2001 Ghana Music Award 2001 and Best Ghanaian Rap Music Award at Anansekrom Festival in Canada in 2000.
