NBSSI Provides Loans To 200,000 Applicants Under the Anidaso Stimulus Package – Kosi Yankey

The CEO of the National Board For Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) Madam Kosi Yankey-Ayeh, has revealed that out of the 850,000 Anidaso loan applicants 200,000 have so far been catered for.

The Anidaso loan package forms part of the government’s stimulus package initiative introduced at the;peak of the COVID-19 outbreak to support small and medium scale entrepreneurs with some seed money to sustain their businesses.

She made the disclosure at the maiden edition of the Nation Building Updates, a government novelty initiative to publicize its achievements relative to empowering the youth with skills and resources in Accra on Tuesday.

According to Madam Yankey-Ayeh, before the new management of the NBSSI took over to manage the affairs of the Board, funds available to support small and medium scale enterprises were a mere 19,000 Ghana Cedis’

“Through our efforts we currently have about one billion Ghana Cedis outside Government funding to support our major clients who are the small and medium scale entrepreneurs”. She said.

Madam Yankey-Aye further noted that NBSSI has now made its presence felt in several communities in Ghana’s 16 Regions.

“Apart from our enlarged funding capacity , NBSSI has extended its reach to 155 districts across the nation which is another major achievement.”.She added.

The NBSSI Boss continued that the Board ‘s priority is to make the informal sector very attractive so we are encouraging the youth to move into that space and we have a good story to tell in this regard. . “Things are simply working well in this direction.”

According to the Madam Yankey-Ayeh, partnership deals have been struck with a number of foreign partners with the most predominant ones being the German funding agency GTZ and JICA of Japan.

“The partnership goes with funding which will further boost the private sector especially in small and medium scale entrepreneurship.

Madam Yankey –Ayeh enumerated a number of initiatives that the partnership with foreign partners have yielded especially ,in the area of capacity building.

She noted that 37 business centres have within the past three and a half years been opened to provide an easy access to various services needed by the youth entrepreneurs and other small and medium scale enterprises to grow their businesses..
