The Minister of Energy and Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Dr Matthew Opoku-Prempeh has provided a total of 3,800 gas burners to residents in the constituency.
At a brief presentation ceremony at the Dichemso Dunwell Methodist Church, Hon Samuel Pyne, Mayor of Kumasi who represented the Energy Minister said the burner distribution was part of the cylinder recirculation policy by government.
He noted that the policy is intended to help citizens make good use of fuels and gas for cooking.
“The cylinder recirculation policy is intended for us to make use of better fuels or gas for cooking rather than the use of charcoal and wood which has terrible effect on the environment of the country”, Hon Pyne stated.
ADMONITION:
Hon Pyne commended the actions and industry of the Energy Minister and asked constituents to keep supporting him.
He noted that issues about the environment were also important to tackle and urged residents to keep their surroundings clean at all times.
Hon Pyne said 70% of revenue generated by the KMA was used in treating insanitary conditions in the metropolis.
“If we are not able to by ourselves clean our communities and markets the KMA may not be able to tackle issues of school infrastructure and road construction because 70% of revenue we generate gets used up in the tackling of refuse and filth”, the Mayor stressed.
CHAIRMAN:
Mr Richard Adjei Mensah Ofori-Atta, Chairman of Manhyia South Constituency of NPP, assured residents that government was concerned with their welfare.
The gas burners, he noted was just part of the plans the government has to make life less burdensome for residents in the Manhyia South Constituency.
He noted that the Energy Minister who is the MP for the area has mentioned several projects he intends to undertake so as to make the lives of people in Manhyia South better.
