Nana Addo’s Free SHS Not A Phony, Is A Blessing In Disguise- Beneficiaries Hail President
Free SHS beneficiaries, Charles Ayorka and Reagan Osei Bonsu have chastised a section of Ghanaians claiming the Free Senior High School policy introduced by President Akufo-Addo is a deceiving policy.
According to Reagan, if it were a deceiving policy, Nana Akufo-Addo in the 2008, 2012 and the 2016 election campaign, he wouldn’t have reiterated the implementation of the policy if Ghanaians voted him to power.
Participating on “The Youth’s Stake programme on Wontumi TV/Radio 101.3 in Kumasi on 17/10/2020, he noted that, Ghanaians listened to the cry of Nana Akufo-Addo and voted him to power and indeed he has fulfilled his promise.
The former student of Ejisuman Senior High School told Sammy Binfoh, host of the most watched Youth programme in the country that, he had a shock when he got free admission to the SHS because his mother passed on when he completed Junior High School.
“All hopes were lost, but when I and my sister went to the Ejisuman Senior High School for confirmation I was admitted at the boarding house and I was told not to pay anything.” Reagan said with emotions.
According to him, he was surprised they were given free uniform and text books, exercise and enjoy free dining whiles they have not paid any fees.
He said that, they paid nothing for their final exam registration fee.
The fresh SHS graduate bemoaned that, during the era of former President John Mahama, some students couldn’t afford the final exam registration fee.
Regan stressed that, the free SHS policy hasn’t reduced the quality of education rather it has improved it.
He said that, the same teachers who were teaching their seniors also taught them when they were in SHS one.
Contributing to the discussion, Charles on the other hand recalled that, he asked himself how he was going to afford his fees at the SHS because his parents are vulnerable.
He noted that, he went for the admission alone in the Osei Tutu Senior High School and it was free.
Charles jabbed that, the free SHS policy is not a propaganda.
“Free SHS is a blessing in disguise. We had no hope when we completed JHS.” Charles affirmed.
He said that, it has opened their mind adding that it has granted them knowledge.
According to the duo, John Mahama is fully aware that, the policy is good but has been blinded by politics.
“Nana Akufo-Addo saw that the country has enough funds that’s why he said he will introduce it and if John Mahama says the opposite then where is the country heading towards ?” they questioned.
They emphasized that, the double track system is not a negative idea.
Regan and Charles said that, if a person utters that, the double track system is not good then the person wants other students to stay home.
“Ghanaians should support President Akufo-Addo to give what the youth deserve .” they urged
