My Mission Is To Improve The Life Of Africans- AfDB President Dr Adesina
The President of Africa Development Bank (AfDB) Dr Akinwumi A. Adesina has said that his appointment as the President of AfDB is not a job secure but a mission to improve the lives of the people of the African continent
According to him, he and the AfDB staff are doing such looking at their commitment to the total development of the African continent.
Dr Adesina made this known in his speech to open the AfDB Annual General Meeting at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra on Monday.
He commended the staff, shareholders and all stakeholders of AfDB for their hard work.
Dr Akinwumi revealed that in 2021 the AfDB was adjudged the best multinational financial institution in the world
“The centre for Global Development in Washington also ranked African Development Fund(AfDF) as second in the whole world ahead of all 28 transactional Financial Institutions,” he revealed.
He said the AfDB has three institutions namely the African Development Bank itself, which is the non-concessional window of lending for the bank, the African Development Fund, a concessional arm of the Bank which gives relief to the needy countries and the Nigerian Trust Fund which provides grants and technical assistance to low-income countries
The AfDB President indicated the Bank is currently focusing on energy and climate resilience and has allocated 25 billion dollars to deal with it till 2025.
Currently, the AfDB Groups Board of Directors has approved a 1.5 billion dollar facility to help African countries avert the looming food crisis following the Russia-Ukraine war.
