(PICTURES) MTN Ghana Organizes Blood Donation Exercise On Valentine’s Day; Targets Over 4000 Donors This Year

Telecommunication giant, MTN Ghana has organised a blood donation exercise on Tuesday 14/02/2023 at the premises of Kumasi Girls Senior High School.

Scores of students participated in the exercise.

Speaking exclusively with Wontumionline.com, the Technical Head for MTN Northern Sector, Charles Amoako Akoto said the telecommunication giant has great concern for its customers and their health concern is imperative.

Amoako Akoto said that MTN Ghana’s target is to get over four thousand persons to donate blood this year.

He recalled that the annual “Save A Life” campaign exercise started in 2011 but was paused in 2021 and 2022 due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

The Northern Sector Technical Head further revealed that MTN Ghana was adjudged the Highest Corporate Donor in 2013.

 

He added that MTN Ghana was the second-highest donor in 2013 and one of the highest donors in 2015.

Commendation from KATH

A Blood Programme Manager at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital(KATH), Christian Oppong Mensah commended MTN Ghana for its effort.

He said without MTN Ghana it will be difficult for the blood donation exercise instigated.

Oppong Mensah lamented KATH has the problem of getting blood when the students vacate but the contrast ensues when they resume school.

“Donating blood is not much painful. Though we need blood we will not do more harm than good,” he said.

Students Appeal

The students who participated in the exercise urged the general public to donate blood to save lives.

They said it’s good to donate blood to save lives.

“Initially I was scared to go through the process of donating the blood but after going through the process the spooked has vanished,” one student said.

Another learner affirmed that “this is my first time donating blood.l thought it is painful but is not. I will encourage everyone to donate blood to save a life.”
