
The Economic and Organized Crime Office(EOCO) says it arrested Mr. Dennis Miracles Aboagye on Sunday July 12, at the Accra International Airport on investigations into an alleged financial and procurement-related irregularities at the Inter Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralization(IMCCoD).
EOCO says it arrested Mr. Miracles Aboagye who is the former Executive Secretary of IMCCoD, as part of investigations into a petition from the current Executive Secretary.
“The arrest follows extensive investigations commenced by EOCO after receiving a petition from the current Executive Secretary of IMCCoD requesting further investigations into a forensic audit conducted into the affairs of the Secretariat covering the period from 1 August 2022 to 2 February 2025,” the statement said.
EOCO says the investigation into the audit commenced last year with “an initial forensic audit of the IMCCoD and the subsequent petition, concern the suspected misappropriation, misapplication, diversion and theft of public funds amounting to about GH¢55 million.”
Mr. Aboagye together with a former accountant for IMCCoD Mr. Gerald Appiah are under investigation for six suspected offences.
The offences according to EOCO are, “conspiracy to steal and stealing, using public office for profit, causing financial loss to the state, dissipation of public funds, defrauding by false pretences and money laundering.”
