The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has identified several flaws in the latest report by the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA).
The MFWA, identified the NPP Chairman together with other leading members of the NPP as people who use abusive language in the media space.
But the NPP Chairman in response to the latest report informed Wontumionline.com that it was very absurd the MFWA, ignored people like Sammy Gyamfi, Ofosu Ampofo and John Dramani Mahama in the report.
The NPP Chairman also known as Chairman Wontumi observed that the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress together with his party executives are abusive and finds it strange their names didn’t make it to the list.
He noted that Sammy Gyamfi has constantly insulted the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Madam Jane Mensah and several others but still managed to make it to the list.
He also wondered the motive behind the MFWA report to exclude the National Chairman of the NDC, Ofosu Ampofo, when he had been caught on tape stating that he would sponsor people to kidnap girls across the country.
Chairman Wontumi also indicted the flagbearer of the NDC, who has publicly insulted a tribe in Ghana by calling them “Akyem Sakawa Boys”. He therefore urged the MFWA, to do a balance report and not to make him a target.
Earlier on the Wontumi Morning Show, the NPP Chairman explained that he is measured when it comes to speaking on the media and would humbly reject the new tag MFWA, wants to place on him.
The August edition of the Media Foundation for West Africa’s (MFWA) Language monitoring on Radio has cited the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, as the most abusive individual on radio.
Others were Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, MP for Assin Central and Mugabe Maase, host of Power FM’s Inside Politics. The NPP, and Kumasi-based Wontumi Radio recorded the highest incidents of indecent expressions.
But the NPP Chairman also known as Chairman Wontumi responed to the statement by indicating that “I am a very humble person, but you can’t just come and ride over me. I always try to defend the NPP and anytime I speak on air, I make sure I speak about God’s gospel first”.
He deny the content of the report and directed the researchers of MFWA to shift their attention to the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. John Mahama, who according to him, is the most abusive politician in Ghana.
“If they are looking for the person who has been most abusive, then I will say it is former President Mahama. He and his running mate came to visit Otumfuo and out of disrespect, they told him everybody’s child is bad. But I had the same opportunity to visit my King, and I humbled myself by kneeling down”, he said.
Chairman Wontumi continued that just recently, Mr. Mahama also called the people of Akyem “Sakawa Boys” and was amazed all this escaped the researchers who published the report.
“I reject their report and all the attribution they made is not me”, Chairman Wontumi established.
