Meet Young, Courageous Dakoa Newman Representing Okaikwei South Constituency.

The representation of Ghanaian women in parliament and government business is steadily growing as first timer contestant Mrs Newman Dakoa axed gallant men in the Okaikwei south parliamentary elections race held on December 7, 2020.

The former polling station women’s organizer and an academician for Kaneshie zone in the Okaikwei South constituency is said to have flattened the incumbent, Hon Ahmed Arthur during the NPP’s primaries to secure her slot as the Parliamentary Candidate on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party.

She is a proud old student of Wesley Girls Senior High in the Central Region of Ghana and having graduated with a degree in Political Science Major from the University Of Ghana.

The wit Ghanaian politician continued her pursuit of knowledge in the University of Warwick, London, where she earned her Masters degree in Programmes and Project management.

Mrs Dakoa, a mother of one ,is also the founder of DNF Ghana, a developmental and Humanitarian Non-Governmental Organization that advances social welfare issues and poverty alleviation.

She recently lost her father, Victor Ohene Kwaku Newman, a founding member of the New Patriotic Party and a Director of Research at the office of the President  until his demise.

Hon. Newman Dakoa will be part of the 8th parliament of Ghana of the fourth Republic after successfully winning the parliamentary elections in the Okaikwei South constituency.

Mrs Newman expressed gratitude to her constituents for electing her to represent them in parliament.

 

Hon. Newman Doko’s Non-Governmental Organisation takes up projects such as clean up exercises in Kaneshie and its environs as well as health screening programmes.

She also has a shea initiative project in the Wa West district of the Upper West Region which offers skills training and also serves as a source of income for the youth in the area.

It is interesting to know that Mrs Dakoa undertakes regular donation of medical supplies to Kaneshie Polyclinic and other surrounding communities in Ga West.

Indeed she’s earned the love of her constituents for her philanthropic deeds and they have in return rewarded her to represent them in parliament.
