Mahama’s Failure To Congratulate New ECOWAS Chairman Is Disappointing – Chairman Wontumi
Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has descended heavily on the former President, John Dramani Mahama, for failing to congratulate Nana Addo’s appointment as Chairman of ECOWAS .
According to him , what the former President has done is not a hallmark of good statesmanship and very disappointing.
“Failing to congratulate the New ECOWAS Chairman is a serious failure on his part and to add insult into injury, John Mahama is rather using the President’s age to run him down .” He charged on the former President.
So peeved at the former President’s conduct Chairman Wontumi retorted, ‘’ He that thinks he is standing should watch so he doesn’t slip and fall.”
Chairman Wontumi who was contributing to a discussion on Wontumi TV and Radio in an early morning talkshow programme hosted by Oheneba Nana Asiedu noted that despite the accusation against the President, he has not lost focus.
“As I speak now he is cutting the sod for work to begin on projects aimed at creating jobs and giving hope to the people.” He noted.
The President who is currently touring some communities in some newly created Regions in the Bono and Ahafo areas is also is commissioning fully executed projects as part of his national development agenda.
Chairman Wontumi expressed regret that considering all the opportunities and privileges that John Mahama had in his long spell of public service which ended as an Executive President, the begging question is what did he do for which helwould be rembered by Ghanaians?
“John Mahama” he added, “ had all the opportunities in life, He started public life as an Assembly Member, and later rose to become Member of Parliament ,then Minister of State , Vice President and finally, an Executive President . But after all these there is very little which he can claim credit.”
According to Chairman Wontumi,” what John Mahama will rather be remembered for is the several scandals he got himself involved in including the Airbus bribery case .
“The NDC has just come out with what can be described as devilish manifesto. But Ghanaians should take note that the former President is not a new President who can come out to come with anything new.
Chairman Wontumi took Ghanaians down memory lane by recalling a statement attributed to the former President himself.
“ John Mahama once said he is a dead goat and will therefore not listen to anybody so Ghanaians should ask him what can a dead Goat do to a country.” He recalled.
Chairman Wontumi assured Ghanaians that, “God himself is directing the steps of Nana Addo and will always stand beside him to overcome all the challenges which may come his way.
He quoted Issiah 43:19 as the Bible text which captures the spiritual connection that has granted Nana Addo the numerous successes he has so far chalked.
