Mahama Using Ofosu-Ampofo’s Akyemness As A Defense Is Lame

You Are A Failure! You Stayed Home Drinking Whilst Your Party Suffered-Dr Kwesi Kyei Tears Into JM

A miss is as good as a mile, and this is something that appears to be illusive to Mahama. In his attempt to limit the seemingly self-inflicted irreparable damage to his candidacy with respect to his ethnocentric comments against the people of Akyem, John Dramani Mahama has sought to justify it by saying that it was targeted at a few, named persons.

He throws in the angle of his National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo and the head of his manifesto committee hailing from Akyem, and could not have lumped all of them into the same soup.

First of all, Ofosu-Ampofo doesn’t see himself as an Akyem. As someone who places his lineage above the political party he worships, he sat akimbo while Kwame Zu took his people to the cleaners.

More importantly, what constituency does Ofosu-Ampofo have in the NDC? He is a mere paper tiger who panders to the whims and fancies of John Mahama.

Besides, every party has people from every tribe in the country but same doesn’t prevent such objectionable effusions.

Per that pathetic analogy Mahama is making, then it means that his assertion that the NPP hates Voltarians (which is not true, anyway), cannot be the case because there are thousands of people from the region who are members of the ruling party.

You see, Mahama is relying on this lame point to defend himself but claimed the NPP was against Voltarians when he could have employed the same logic in that department.

Whilst the NPP has a demonstrable record to show that tribalistic tendencies are not part of our system, the NDC and their leader have this noxious trait deeply ingrained in their veins.

Ofosu-Ampofo being an Akyem did not prevent Mahama from attacking the people because Ofosu-Ampofo himself doesn’t believe in his Akyemness.

If the targets were specific individuals, why didn’t he mention their names but resorted to describing them with their tribe? The target was the entire Akyem people, not just a selected few.

Their defense is weak and the only option left is for John Dramani Mahama to apologize to the people of Akyem for insulting them.
