Former President John Dramani Mahama, used the seat of government to promote corrupt people like Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako has said.
The Ashanti regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in an interview with Wontumionline.com, stated that Mr. Mahama wanted to legitimize corruption and so used his position as President to promote and console any of his appointees who was caught dabbling in the act.
Mr. Mahama was recently heard taking a swipe at President Akufo-Addo over his fight against corruption in the public sector.
The former President claimed that even though President Akufo-Addo had claimed that his government was not meant for persons interested in making money, the exact opposite is what is being witnessed presently
But Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi hit back and accused Mr. Mahama of making corruption an appealing enterprise under his watch.
Chairman Wontumi stated that “after Afriyie Ankrah’s corruption case, you brought him closer to you because corruption is part of you”.
He added that President Akufo-Addo has established a legacy that would be hard for Ghanaians to erase from their memory.
“Before free SHS was introduced, you as President said it can only be possible in 20 years time but Akufo-Addo came and made it possible”, he said.
