Mahama Hands Over Free Weapon To Opponents, Wontumi Fires First Shot

A careless remark by John Dramani Mahama has again become a weapon in the hands of his opponents with Chairman Wontumi firing the first shot at the former President.

In his latest loose talk that has made him a target, John Mahama gave an indication that “he has no business contesting the December election.”

He made the disclosure during a town hall meeting and the launch of their manifesto at the KNUST Main Auditorium on Tuesday.

In his previous remarks, the former President served notice that Nana Addo had spent the maximum eight years term and with respect to the latest slip of tongue he dramatically said “Nana Addo has fulfilled all of the promises by the NDC.”

Chairman Wontumi who has tirelessly been reading the lips of John Mahama anytime he mounts the platform to make a pronouncement quickly harped on the “lose talk” by expressing a concern. “If John Mahama thinks Nana Addo has fulfilled all the NDC’s promises, then John Mahama will have no work to do.” He quizzed.

Chairman Wontumi who was speaking on Wontumi TV/Radio on Wednesday chided the former President for being too “playful.”

“You are what you say you are. If you say Nana Addo has fulfilled all your promises why then do you still want to come back?” He asked.

According to Chairman Wontumi the former President also appears to have forgotten that he is contesting a formidable achiever whose actions have placed him far ahead of him.

Chairman Wontumi who reviewed the Town Hall Meeting by the former President on the programme said some die hard NDC members had confided in him that, “ it was a wasted effort.”

“They came to me immediately after the programme to tell me that the forum was needless because the former Head of State said nothing of substance.”

The NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman noted that the opposition party’s flagbearer acknowledges “that there has been a drastic change in the infrastructural development all over the country.”

“What he saw in Kumasi in particular, may have overwhelmed him. The Kumasi Airport and the road from the Airport – all have changed the landscape of Kumasi.” Chairman Wontumi noted.

“NDC’s policies became a burden on residents and Ashantis will forever remember the NDC for the dumsor, the broken promise of providing the one term premium for the NHIS card holders and the capitation clause in accessing primary health care..
