Mahama Does Not Value NPP’s Existence – Paul Yandoh

The Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Kwabena Yandoh, has criticised President Mahama for scheduling a National Sanitation Day on the same day as the NPP’s constituency elections, describing it as evidence that the President “does not care about the NPP nor its existence.”

Mr Yandoh said President Mahama could have chosen a different date for the exercise, arguing that as a key part of the country’s political structure, the NPP’s internal elections should not be overshadowed by other national events.

He described the President’s action as a deliberate neglect of the NPP, noting that the timeline for the party’s internal elections had long been public knowledge.

“The President knows that the NPP started its registration for polling stations from March 1 to 31. We started our polling station elections around April. The President knows, and he cannot tell us he is not aware, because he also knows we have started the process for constituency executive elections and is aware we will vote in July,” he said.

Mr Yandoh added that, in his view, President Mahama does not acknowledge the NPP’s place in the country’s political life.

“I think that in the mind of President Mahama, the NPP does not exist. That is why I am alerting [Justin Kodua Frimpong] on this issue if you look at the series of things that have gone on, the man does not have our interest at heart,” he said.

“How can you put a National Sanitation Day on the day the NPP is going to hold its elections a democratic party that has been accepted by the nation?” he added.
