Luis Suarez Not In My Plans- Ronald Koeman

After having had a discussion with Barcelona captain Lionel Messi, Ronald Koeman has now spoken to Luis Suarez and has reportedly informed the Uruguayan veteran that he isn’t counting on him for the 2020/21 season.

Suarez has endured fitness concerns over the past campaign, although his dip in form can be traced back as far as 18 months.

Catalan radio station RAC1 reported on Monday that Koeman had informed Suarez of his decision in a phone call and that the plan now is very much to find a way to move him out of the club.

The former Liverpool goalscorer has one year left on his contract, however there is an option for a further season which will become active if he plays a certain number of matches in the 2020/21 campaign.

This looks to be Koeman’s first major move since taking the job, although few anticipated that Suarez would be a key figure in whatever direction Los Cules elected to move in after their dismal 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich.

Suarez has been clear that he wants to stay at the Camp Nou, but with Ajax interested and Koeman not likely to use him on the pitch it now seems that this won’t be possible.
