Lordina Mahama, Naadu Mills And Other Spouses Of Former Presidents Asked to Refund Allowances Paid Them
Lordina Mahama, Ernestina Naadu Mills, Matilda Amissah- Arthur et al have been asked to return all allowances paid them to the state since time immemorial.
The Member of Parliament for Tano North constituency, Hon. Freda Akosua Prempeh in an exclusive interview with Oheneba Nana Asiedu on Wontumi Radio/TV.
She said the former First and Second Ladies should follow the footsteps of Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Samira Bawumia and refund the allowances.
She bemoaned that, since the salary recommendation popped up, a section of Ghanaians have stood on roof tops to chastise them painfully.
“They have children so to let sleeping dogs lie they have decided to refund the salary and not to receive any salary.”
She said that the duo have shown leadership for refunding the allowance.
Hon. Freda Prempeh indicated that, their contributions towards the development of the country have been unremembered.
“If such issues come on board let’s exercise patience in discussing it. We can drag it to court like what Abronye has done,” she said.
According to the Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, the Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Samira Bawumia are sources of inspiration and motivation to the youth and if they are lambasted, it dumps their spirit.
“Most Ghanaians take their plights to Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Samira Bawumia and they give them a humble response,” she said.
