Lobbying Is More Effective In Getting Govt. Attention Than Demonstrations – Deputy Road Minister

Deputy Roads and Highways Minister, Hon Stephen Jalula has assured the people of Kwabre East that their cries to the government to improve their deplorable road network have been heard and soon they will see an improvement.

According to him through consistent lobbying by some key political figures in the District, the Ministry of Roads and Highways has finalized all needed arrangements for work to begin on some of them.

He said the persistent lobbying approach adopted by some three key personalities from Kwabre East has been very helpful in seeking the intervention by the government to improve the road infrastructure in the area which he believes will relieve the residents of their major burden.

He mentioned the hardworking citizens as MP Hon. Minister Francisca Oteng Mensah; Kwabre East Constituency Chairman of the NPP Barimaba Fredrick Agyemang Mensah and former Ashanti Regional Organizer of NPP Daniel Agyenim Boateng

“These proud citizens of Kwabre East were at the Ministry virtually on daily basis to make sure that the pleas of their good people get attention.”Hon Jalula noted.

The Deputy Road Minister who was speaking with Akyemkwaa Kofi Asare on Wotumi Radio and Radio and TV in Kumasi, therefore, appealed to those who often resort to demonstrations and other forms of protestation to vent their frustration to take a cue by considering lobbying as the best option when they have government issues.”

He added that the “NPP is a listening government but because the demands placed on it are numerous, it takes time, patience and usually a direct engagement to get a response of the authorities to deal with those challenges.”

According to Hon Jalula, there is no way the NPP government would leave the Kwabre East Municipality behind in providing social infrastructure.

“Kwabre East as a metropolis forms an integral part of the NPP’s stronghold and with its dense population which gives it an advantage as an area worthy of having its fair share of the national cake, the government owes it an obligation to attend to its needs.”

He said quite a sizeable portion of its population constitutes working people who on a daily basis commute to and from the regional capital to ply their trade “so development cannot be denied them.”

Hon Jalula continued that because the government is determined to improve its poor road infrastructure, the sector Minister, Hon Akwasi Amoako-Atta will soon increase the number of contractors currently working on Kwabre East roads.
