The CEO of a Kumasi based NGO, EKK Charity Foundation, Dr Evans Kwofi Kwarfo, has urged Ghanaians, especially the well to do to support the needy and poor people who have made the streets their home to ease the mounting pressure on society at large.
Dr Kwofi Kwafo expressed worry over several cases of patients being detained at the various hospitals because of their inability to pay their hospital bills.
He described the situation as unfortunate and must be dealt with.
Dr Kwofi Kwafo said this when he presented GC28,000 to pay for the admission fees and other medical expenses incurred by three detained patients at the County Hospital at Abrepo, in the Bantama constituency Ashanti Region.
He urged Ghanaians especially, government and NGO’s to invest in the administration of health care for the benefit of the poor and not to place all hopes in the National Health Insurance scheme for funding support which is inadequate to meet the financial needs of the people due to several challenges.
The beneficiaries expressed happiness to the CEO of EKK Charity Foundation for the honor done them by settling their hospital bills enabling them to be discharged from the hospital where they remained incarcerated for over a month.
The beneficiaries spoke to Richard Mensah in an interview.
