Leaked tape against IGP; we must allow thorough parliamentary probe to ascertain the truth – NPP Youth Organizer

Arguments are ongoing on an alleged leaked tape seeking the removal of the Inspector General Of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare before the 2024 general election to pave to allegedly pave the way for the NPP to rig it.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has directed the establishment of a seven-member special committee to investigate the leaked tape containing the removal of the IGP.

The decision to form the committee comes in response to a demand by the minority caucus of Parliament, who called for a thorough probe to determine the authenticity and credibility of the leaked tape.

The Offinso North NPP deputy Youth Organizer, Nana Kwame Yaboah Asiamah expressed that Ghanaians must allow parliament to conduct an in-depth investigation into the matter to ascertain the truth of the matter at stake.

He indicated that this is an alleged tape that has no authenticaticity and so the only way to ascertain the truth of the tape and those who matter in it is to allow a parliamentary probe into the case because there was due diligence before the appointment of someone to occupy such high ranking position of IGP adding that the IGP has performed’ pleasingly after his appointment and keeps performing.
He continued that President Akuffo Addo has even expressed confidence in his works on several occasions and Ghanaians also believe in the conduct of the IGP in instilling discipline in the police service and making it look attractive to the masses.

On his part, the NDC communication team member for Offinso North district in the Ashanti region, Mr Amin Mahama commended the IGP for his immense contribution towards the improvement of security services in the country.
He revealed that the NDC and John Mahama would be ready to work with him due to his selfless leadership and dedication towards work if the opposition party won power..

He therefore pleaded with the leadership of the country and the entire citizenry to allow the IGP to continue his effective policing to improve the security of the people stating that he has not done anything contrary to the rules and ethical standard of policing to be subjected to any form of humiliation relating to his dismissal or removal from office as the leaked tape suggests.
