Kusi Boafo exposes Atto Forson’s unemployment rate comments with fact and figures

Thomas Kusi Boafo, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of Public Sector Reforms says, the leader of the minority caucus, Cassiel Ato Forson should review his calculations.

According to him, Ato Forson did not give the accurate statistics on unemployment rate in the country.

The minority leader yesterday slammed the president for not outlining measures to curb unemployment.

“Two out of three Ghanaians are unemployed. Meaning, 30% of the youth are jobless, and about 4.5 million employable Ghanaians are outside the Labour force”
This follows, state of the nation’s address (SONA) delivered by the president in Parliament on 27th February, 2024.

In a rebuttal on Wontumi TV, on 28th February, 2024, Kusi Boafo explained that the address by the president was comprehensive, insightful and decisive.

“Not a single aspect was missed. Our total population is 33 million. Over 11.3 million are employed, about 12 million are underage. How can the minors work? Let us be honest sometimes ” he stressed.

In addition, he emphasised on people who are employed in the informal sector, yet not captured to accrue to the existing figures.

“The informal sector wasn’t captured. Is the okada driver unemployed? What of taxi drivers, masons and the rest?” He quizzed.
