As a political researcher, Mr. Thomas Kusi Boafo has brought out some facts that shows how stronger the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has become in opposition.
The renowned lecturer in an interview on Wontumi TV and Radio, stated that even though the New Patriotic Party won the 2016 elections, they comfortably did that leaning on the Ashanti region as data shows the party lost in 9 regions out of 10.
“In 2016, we had 10 regions and we had to overwork in Ashanti region unorder to beat the National Democratic Congress. I informed the party of this when I was the Research chairman. The NDC beat us in the other 9 regions with 113,000 votes”, Mr. Thomas Kusi Boafo stated.
The story was similar in the 2020 elections as Mr. Boafo pointed out that it was only the Ashanti region that helped the NPP retain power though the NDC performed well in the region.
He explained that though the regions were increased from 10 to 16, the NPP again depended mainly on one (Ashanti region) to retain power.
Mr. Boafo stated that the NPP lost to the NDC in the remaining 15 regions with a vote of 625,000.
He continued that the available data shows that from 2016 to 2020, the NDC has become stronger in opposition.
“They are so powerful in the 15 regions and if care is not taken, they will beat us by 1 million votes”, Mr. Boafo warned his party.
He added that in terms of percentage, the NDC has move to 347% from 2016 to 2020.
