government attest to the massive investment government has made to improve the quality of life of the the people of Sekyere Kumawu.
Overall, the Kumawu Assembly Members’ praise for the Nana Addo/Bawumia government is well-deserved, considering the impactful projects and initiatives that have transformed their district.
In attendance the DCE for Kumawu, Hon. Samuel Addai Agyekum, the Member of Parliamen, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim, the Presiding Member of the Assembly, Hon. Ofori Fareed, the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Emmanuel Appiah Kubi, Heads District Security and other government officials.
In an opening address, the Presiding Member of the Assembly said, he was very glad and humbled to be given the opportunity to address the august house and also expressed his profound gratitude to the Hon. DCE, Hon. Assembly Members, and Hon. Member of Parliament for the Constituency, Nananom, Heads of Departments and all invited guest for honouring the invitation.
Hon. Ofori said, this meeting provides the platform for Hon, Members to reflect on the development needs and aspiration of their people, and said by so doing take the right decision that would help in the accomplishment of the aspiration and the needs of the citizenry and said the meeting will give an open space and privileges to the participants and Members to deliberate on the developmental polices agenda of the District.
He said, the meeting is in fulfillment of the Local Government Act 2016, Act 936 and the model standing orders which empower the Members to meet periodically to deliberate on matters of concern and take decision for the best interest of the people they serve.
Hon. Ofori Fareed urged Hon. Members to continue to eschew all forms of partisan tendencies that could derail their collective effort in accomplishing the desire goals for the betterment and transformation of the District.
In a sessional address, the DCE Hon. Samuel Addae Agyekum said, he was very grateful and privileged to address the august house for his second term of office and expressed his utmost gratitude to His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo –Addo, the President of the Republic of Ghana for re-nominating him for the second time.
He addressed Hon. Members on security, Agriculture, Health and other sectors of development.
He hinted that, the Government introduced the Free Senior High School policy to increase access and also embarked on massive provision of education infrastructure across the levels to cater for the growing student population in the District.
The DCE promised to continue with outstanding projects in the district though the assembly would be dissolved next month.
He admonished members not to be emotional since it was the last meeting before the dissolution of the assembly, and appealed to them to contribute meaningfully to the success of the Assembly.
He said with the limited resources of the assembly, members have still played their role well through their contributions in assembly meetings and in their communities and this has brought development to the various areas.
The special general assembly meeting for the approval of the 2024 composite budget proposals, fee fixing resolution and the annual composite action plan of the Sekyere Kumawu District in the Ashanti Region was approved successfully.
Hon. Agyekum says, the approval of the 2025 composite budget is a significant milestone for the Sekyere Kumawu District Assembly. This approval enables the implementation of crucial projects and initiatives, driving development and progress in the District.
Hon. Samuel Addai Agyekum thanked Hon. Assembly Members, Heads of Department, Nananom for their support for the past years and request all to work collectively for the development of the District.
