KUHIS Product Is Best Graduating Student At UDS
Master Shadrack Osei Boateng, a 23 year old former science student at Kumasi High School (KUHIS) was over the weekend adjudged the overall best graduating student at the University of Development Studies (UDS), Tamale.
With an unprecedented record of 4.94 as his Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA), the former representative of Kuhis at the National Science and Maths Quiz in 2015 (NSMQ) topped his BSC Mechanical Engineering class and also became the best graduating student in the whole university with such high score.
Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper over the weekend, Master Osei Boateng expressed profuse happiness for his exploits.
He noted that to receive honors in front of the President of the Republic and the entire University could only spur him on to achieve greater feats.
BACKGROUND:
Giving some details of his background, Master Osei Boateng noted that he comes from a humble home and with an aggregate six (6) from the State Experimental School in Kumasi after the BECE exams, he got the chance to pursue General Science in 2012 at Kumasi High School, a famous school in the Ashanti Region.
KUHIS, master Osei Boateng said, gave him the best of opportunities to unearth the talents he had in himself and the experience he garnered from being part of that science class as well as to participate in the national science and maths quiz shot his confidence to high levels.
Graduating with top honors of 6 As and 2 Bs from the eights courses done at the SHS level at KUHIS, Master Osei Boateng got the opportunity to pursue mechanical engineering at UDS despite similar offer from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
Recalling an avalanche of encouragement from staff of the school, friends as well as Kumasi High School Old Boys, Master Osei Boateng popularly called Shadrack said the honors he received last weekend was largely due to the words of hope he had.
VISION:
Master Boateng says his aim is to become a control systems and mechanics engineer in the near future.
This aim, he noted would be after pursuing his masters and PHD in mechanical engineering.
His desire, he revealed, is to be able to work and contribute his quota to the development of the country and helping the needy in society.
QUICK READ:
In all, 4, 683 students from the Tamale, Nyankpala, Wa and Navrongo campuses of the UDS graduated with diplomas, bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees.
Those graduating with diplomas were 1,050, with 2, 673 graduating with bachelor’s degrees, while 173 were postgraduates.
