Ksi: Ash. Regional Minister Takes Woman To Hospital For Faking Sickness To Dodge Traffic

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah on Saturday 7pm took a 48-year-old woman, Mansah Elizabeth to hospital.

The woman allegedly connived with a driver to fake sickness on the Atonsu stretch to dodge traffic.

According to the Regional Minister, he was driving from Appiadu, a suburb of Kumasi and decided to ply the Atonsu road and after passing by the Atonsu market he got stuck in traffic for about 20minutes.

In an exclusive interview with Wontumionline’s Nana Owusu Achiaw, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah asserted he was curious and parked his car to find out why the long traffic..

“When I reached, a white Benz car with the registration number AC-1708-18 had blocked the road. When I asked I was told someone is sick and I noticed a woman sitting at the back of the car shouting: ‘I’m dying.

According to the Minister, the woman [Mansah Elizabeth] told her she was experiencing dyspepsia so she wants to attend to nature call and he allowed her.

He continued that when Mansah Elizabeth returned she told him she is okay now,” but I told her since you claim you are sick I’m taking you to hospital. And I made her sit in my car and drove her to the Kumasi South Hospital.

Hon. Simon Osei Mensah said, he made sure she was given VIP treatment and also provided security for her.

Angry Hon. Osei Mensah stressed that he embarked on that to serve as a deterrent to some passengers and drivers.

“We are going to stop this in Ashanti Region. If you are caught in this circumstance we will take you to a nearby hospital to do a proper laboratory test to find out.

Emotional Mansah Elizabeth who couldn’t hold her tears after Hon. Osei- Mensah made the health workers discharge her Sunday afternoon apologized for the proscribed act.

She advised motorists not to do overtaking with intention of escaping traffic.

However, according to the Regional Minister, he asked the Benz driver to report himself to the Asokwa Divisional Police Headquarters.

He said should the driver disobey the order, and he is arrested he will regret it.

The Ashanti Minister commended the Regional Police Commander for conferring protection to the woman through two Police officers, and the nurses who treated the woman.
