Kpembewura Cautions NPP MPs/MMDCEs To Restrict Themselves To Their Core Functions
Kpembewura Babanye Haruna Bismark, has noted that the NPP as a party works, through personalities ,institutions and others to complement one another for the ultimate good of the Party and Government.
He recalled that some time past, there were NDC MMDCEs who were selfless, forward looking who cooperated with progressive and honest NPP MPS and worked with them, harmoniously, to bring the Party to power, on the dawn of 2016.
Speaking in an interview the Kpembewura cautioned that An MMDCE does not have to be a stooge But cautioned that the ruling party has to pick powerful, almighty, NPP MPs, before it can cross over to 2024.
“Any NPP MP who may behave differently , is a failure and urged them to be in their lane so they don’t interfere with the work of the MMDCE’s. “ The Kpempewura said
He continued, “Doing what they have been mandated to do is key particularly in uniting and forging ahead to utilise funds managed by them for the benefit of the entire constituencies.”
He cautioned that the MP’s should not be tempted to claim credit for central government projects as such actions reduce the support the people have for the NPP government.
“The MPS non- egoistic works are what will bring the votes and not who controls the MMDCE’s. “ He cautioned.
The Kpembewura emphasized that the MMDCE’s belong to the executive organ of government while the MP is part of the Legislature respectively even though their functions could overlap in certain situations.
He called on party members to allow the President to decide on who becomes his MMDCE’s adding that any MP who thinks otherwise, “must not be there. “
The Kpebemwura therefore supported Gabby Okyere Darko’s opinion on the matter emphasizing that he is absolutely right in his social comments.
He added that it stands to reason, therefore, that any aspiring MMDCE who thinks that he/she can use his/her position as an MMDCE as a springboard to become an MP in the NPP’s stronghold, should be made to think properly.
