The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has tasked the administrators of Asante Kotoko SC to make a bid for Paul Pogba and leave the financial part for him to handle.
The business mogul is optimistic he can raise the necessary funds to beat off competition from Real Madrid and get Paul Pogba to play for Kotoko.
In an interview on Wontumi Sports which was monitored by Wontumionline.com, the NPP Chairman popularly known as Chairman Wontumi called on the CEO of the Kotoko to establish contacts with Manchester United for a deal to be struck.
“I will plead with the CEO of Kotoko to meet me for a discussion so that we can send our International Relations Officer to negotiate with Man United. if they agree I will pay so that Paul Pogba can come and play for Kotoko”, Chairman Wontumi said.
A report published on the website of Dailymail.co.uk has it that Paul Pogba could be set for a summer move to Real Madrid after Manchester United reportedly dropped their asking price to as little as £53million (€60m).
The Frenchman has come under heavy questioning this season, and has recently lost his place in the United starting XI despite the team’s struggles on the pitch.
Now, United are ready to move the midfielder on and will accept a vastly reduced fee for the star, according to Spanish publication AS.
But Chairman Wontumi maintained that the asking price would not deter him from making the move since he is aware he can meet it.
“His value is coming down. Sometime ago, he was expensive…Kotoko should dispatch their International Relations Officer to Manchester and tell them we have a club here in Ghana which is equally as big as Man U. Kotoko should bid for Paul Pogba, I will pay”, he said
