KMA’s Indebtedness Reduced To GH¢54,190,458.93- Mayor
The total indebtedness of GH¢54,190,458.93 of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) continues to plague management in spite of efforts to reduce it by GH¢9,609,541.07) representing 15.06% of the total debt recorded in 2017.
The debt includes an IGF debt of GH¢1,358,459.66; District Assemblies Common Fund GH¢3,090,508.76; Waste Management GH¢49,741,490.51).
KMAs indebtedness owed to several solid waste collection service providers including Zebtor Martin, Webgold, All States Constructions, Freda FD Enterprise, Waste Group Ghana Limited, Express 2020 Co. Ltd, Appollo Paints World Paints, Messrs Bonfirm Co. Ltd and Juliana Osei Bonsu who are claiming damages, breach of contract and Recovery of the cost of projects and properties, among others, stood at GH¢63,800,000.00 in 2017
The mayor of Kumasi, Osei Assibey Antwi who highlighted these in his end of tenure report during the Assembly’s third ordinary meeting of 2020 last week Wednesday announced that the Assembly has made several appeals to the Central Government through the Ministry of Finance to absorb these bills for payment.
The KMA boss reported that the total expenditure from 2016 to July, 2020 was GHC265,405,016.00, with GHC77,143,463.97 as compensation for employees, GHC84,268,330.97 for goods and services and GHC103,993,221.06 for Assets. E N D
