I am antipathetic to any form of abuse, whether verbal or otherwise, of our venerable judges and justices of our courts.
I am, therefore, not in a happy relationship with the comments Honourable Kennedy Agyapong made about a judge.
Notwithstanding my aversion to what happened, the Assin Central MP has rendered an unqualified apology to the judge and all judges in the country including the Chief Justice.
I have seen some NDC activists writing thesis, giving justifications for why the maverick politician should be incarcerated for his contemptuous pronouncements.
They cite the Montie trio incident as a basis for the imprisonment or otherwise of Kennedy Agyapong. They say his comments are on the same wavelength as those made by the Montie trio. This cannot be the case.
On several occasions, whenever a case in court goes against the NDC, their leadership and activists are quick to describe the courts as kangaroo and the judges as appendages of Akufo-Addo. No one has sent them to court over same.
While I believe the law is in the bosom of the judges, it is also a fact that, unlike the intransigence of the Montie trio, the Assin Central MP has, on more occasions than we can count, shown remorse by apologizing profusely to the judges.
Though the matter will be dealt with in court, the calls for Kennedy Agyapong to be guillotined are out of place. Clemency is all we plead for on behalf of Hon. Kennedy Agyapong.
