The Ashanti regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, is saying John Mahama doesn’t like Ashantis.
His claim is premised on some documented rude attitudes that former President John Mahama has shown to the occupant of the golden stool- Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Chairman Wontumi specifically mentioned the sponsoring of Kevin Taylor and Twene Jonas to insult Otumfuo by the office of the former President as highlights of the hatred he has for the people of Ashanti region.
John Mahama’s office according to Chairman Wontumi “sponsors” Kevin Taylor to insult Otumfuo. “He also pays Twene Jonas to insult Otumfuo”, he said.
In an interview with Kwabena Owusu Dankwah on Kessben TV’s Maakye show, the NPP Chairman stated that “Mahama doesn’t like Ashantis”.
“When Otumfour told him that taxes were killing AngloGold and that the operators wanted to sell the mine for GHC 1, he didn’t help him so eventually the mines collapsed. But through Akufo-Addo the mines has been revived”, he said.
He continued that even when Otumfuo had placed a ban on noisemaking in Ashanti region, John Mahama as President came there with loudspeakers to disturb the region with Daddy Lumba’s ‘Yentie Obiaa’ song.
“Otumour issued a ban on noisemaking and he (Mahama) came here with speakers to play ‘yentie obiaa’.”
