Former President John Dramani Mahama, once begged Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako to cross political carpet and join the National Democratic Congress- a move that ignited their frosty relationship, Mr. Kwame Baffoe has revealed.
The Bono Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party left listeners of the Nsempa Fie jaw dropped after he revealed that the former President enviously seized a 135 acres of land belonging to Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako alias Chairman Wontumi because he refused to join the NDC and sponsor them after a meeting at Tamale.
Mr. Mahama according to Mr. Kwame Baffoe popularly known as Abronye poured his men unto the site of Chairman Wontumi to engage in galamsey activities.
As a result of this, Abronye stated that 55 acres of Chairman Wontumi’s land was destroyed by Mr. Mahama’s men led by Joseph Yamin and Kweku Boahen through galamsey.
“They siezed his excavators and burnt some…the land is 135 acres but the NDC members under Mahama destroyed close to 55 acres of the land through galamsey”, Abronye said.
The NPP Chairman continued that Chairman Wontumi has reclaimed his land and sacked all the men who were empowered by Mr. Mahama to promote galamsey activity on the site.
Following the sack, Chairman Abronye stated that he is astonished to see the NDC circulating videos on some social media platforms that Chairman Wontumi is practicing galamsey when there is evidence to show, he legally acquired the land in 2006 and is into legal mining.
“The NDC are rather circulating a video about Akonta mining that Wontumi is into galamsey when they know they were rather the people doing that on his concession. Wontumi has gone to sack them from his concession and it is out of hatred that they are sending the videos”, Abronye said.
He brushed off allegations that Chairman Wontumi is into illegal mining noting that “how can a gamalsey person mount a sign post at his site?”
