As an astute lawyer with long service, Maurice Ampaw says he cannot boast of the sprawling mansions and fleet of cars Sammy Gyamfi, Felix Ofosu-Kwakye and Okudzeto Ablakwa have acquired in their short stint in politics.
Lawyer Maurice Ampaw used his story to reply his fellow lawyer Martin Kpebu who has threatened but is yet to establish evidence that a certain minister serving under President Akkufo-Addo owns four houses at East Legon- a suburb in Accra.
Delivering a monologue on Wontumi TV’s Mmra Ne Abrabo Mu Nsem show, lawyer Ampaw accused Martin Kpebu of being a member of the NDC so speaks with a political mindset.
“You trying to make NPP appointees look as if they are the only ones building houses under Nana Addo and you are ready to expose them. But start from your party, your party’s headquarters was built with $20million and has anybody asked where they got the money from?” he rhetorically asked him.
Lawyer Ampaw quoted former President Jerry John Rawlings who once accused a member of the NDC of buying twin mansions at East Legon with $3million cash.
“Weren’t we in this country when Rawlings said that a member of your party- Felix Ofosu Kwakye used $3million physical cash to buy a mansion? Are we not in this country- Sammy Gyamfi who was a student when I have practiced law for 20 years, but the house he has built I can’t build it. Sammy Gyamfi has houses and cars”, he said.
He further accused the Member of Parliament for North Tongu Okudzeto Ablakwa of also owning houses that he (Ampaw) can only dream of in his life.
“Okudzeto Ablakwa was a student at Legon when I was lawyer. I completed law in the year 2000 and Okudzeto was still a student but the mansions Okudzeto has built is uncountable”, he added.
