It’s an insult on parents and teachers to call their wards ‘Apor’ products -Kumawu DCE tells Mahama

The district chief executive (DCE), for Sekyere Kumawu, Samuel Addai Agyekum, says, it is an insult for former president, John Dramani Mahama to refer to Free SHS beneficiaries as ‘apor’ products.

According to the DCE, students who have sat for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), under the Free SHS policy have been passing with flying colours.

Speaking on the Wontumi Morning Show, on 16th May, 2024, he mentioned that, former president was never in support of the Free SHS programme, however, it is wrong for him to make such comment.

“The person who said, Free SHS policy would not be achievable until 3 decades, is now telling us that, the students do not excel, and even those who do,are ‘apor’ products. How can you say it is ‘apor’ when Teachers are diligently doing their work?

This is an insult and an accusation on Teachers. Is Mahama saying, the Ghanaian student who recently gained a scholarship to the USA is also an ‘apor’ product?” He quizzed.

He further entreated persons who are 18 years and above to partake in the ongoing limited voter registration exercise.
