It will be a nonsensical decision for the New Patriotic Party to sidestep Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and pick another candidate as flagbearer for the 2024 elections, Mr. Ishaq Kyei-Brobbey has warned.
The Kumasi Technical University lecturer in an interview on Wontumi TV stated that a research by IMANI Ghana has it that Vice President Bawumia is the most popular politician in Ghana and argued that this is an advantage his candidature brings to the NPP.
“Imani conducted a research in 2016 and came out with their findings that the most popular politician in Ghana is Bawumia…It would be absolutely a nonsensical decision to make by overlooking Bawumia”, he warned.
Mr. Ishaq Kyei-Brobbey was quick to add that former President John Mahama is still a household name and he foresees the National Democratic Congress (NDC) electing him as flagbearer for the 2024 elections.
He therefore maintained that the NPP must also stick to Vice President Bawumia since he has an edge over Mr. Mahama when it comes to winning an election.
