Inaki Williams Considering Retiring From Black Stars – Report

Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams is reportedly mulling over the possibility of quitting international football as he reflects on his career at this stage.

According to local media reports, a source close to the player indicated that he may announce his retirement from the Black Stars soon.

Williams has participated in three major international tournaments with Ghana but did not shine as expected.

He was tipped to replicate his explosiveness at club level for the national team, but that did not materialize, as he managed just two goals in 28 matches for the Black Stars.

The Athletic Bilbao captain switched his international allegiance from Spain to Ghana in 2022 and has since made 28 appearances, scoring twice.

He made his Ghana debut in June 2022 after completing the nationality switch, becoming eligible to represent the country of his parents. Williams featured in Ghana’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, and was part of the team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Meanwhile, his club career with the Spanish side is expected to continue, as he remains their captain and has enjoyed an excellent stint with them over many years, establishing himself as one of the respected players in La Liga.
