The communications Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP), Stephen Kwasi Acquah, has heaped praises on President Akufo-Addo for the visionary policies he has implemented since assuming office in January 2017 especially the free SHS policy.
Reacting to the decision by the government to seek for an IMF bailout on Movement In The Morning Show, Mr. Acquah stated that “imagine Ghana without free SHS. If parents of the over 1.4 million beneficiaries of free SHS students are to pay fees, how would they have afforded these huge fees in the face of global crisis which has affected many economies of which Ghana is not spared- imagine Ghana without stable electricity or Ghana without the Ghana card- not just the issuance of the card but the job opportunities it has created.
He stressed that even the striking teachers who are demanding for a Cost Of Living Allowance(COLA) were never denied their salaries nor were their salaries reviewed.
He was however quick to add that the NDC was against the banking sector cleanup; meanwhile the IMF commended the government for such a move noting that its part of the measures to improve the country’s economy but the NDC was saying otherwise.
“IMF commended the president and economic management team for the policies and measures adopted. I want to make it known to Ghanaians that we are going to the IMF for the betterment of the country”.
