Presidential aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyapong has said that among those contesting for the flagbearership slot, he stands tall in emerging as winner.
In buttressing his assertion on Movement in the morning show, he told Kwaku Dawuro that this is because he’s the only aspirant that has won a national executives’ election in the party.
Moreover, he’s among the few who have had presidential aspirants’ elections experience.
“I’ve faith and believe I will be among the five candidates to be elected for the final congress. There are a lot of delegates in the party who had once voted for me to become the General secretary of the party- and I’m the only aspirant that contested for a national position in the party and had won. They believe in me and know my capabilities and will therefore vote for me again”, he expressed confidence.
“I’m very confident of winning…but like an advice former President Kufuor gave us, if you have not gone for elections before you cannot draw your conclusion…and therefore, I will hold on to my faith and wait for the elections”, he added.
He stressed that he believes in democracy- urging aspirants to give respect and honour to the party.
He disclosed that before he visits any region to speak to party folks, he first informs the regional chairman of his intention and seek for their permission first before holding such engagements, after they have approved his request.
He went further to say that he was the first aspirant to have inform the NPP- Members of Parliament of his intention to contest as flagbearer for the party because he believes it’s a very vital cork of the political tradition.
“I have the believe that they will consider my long-dedicated service and sacrifices to this party from 1992. I know that the honour they made to me in tamale even on my sick bed will recur”, he concluded.
